Biomass

GETEX Energy partners with world-leading technology providers to deliver comprehensive biomass handling and combustion systems tailored to your operational needs. Our solutions are designed to optimize fuel quality, ensure safety, and maximize energy output.
Equipment and Services for a Sustainable Future
Biomass energy is a cornerstone of the global transition toward sustainable and low-carbon power generation. Derived from organic materials such as wood chips, agricultural residues, and energy crops, biomass offers a renewable alternative to fossil fuels. It plays a vital role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing energy security, and supporting circular economies.

1. Solid Biomass Handling

We offer turnkey systems for managing solid biomass fuels—from reception to boiler feeding. These systems are ideal for power plants using wood chips, forest residues, pellets, and other biofuels.

Key Features:

  • Fuel receiving stations for trucks, trains, and ships
  • Automated fuel quality control and sampling
  • Robust storage and conveying systems
  • Custom boiler feeding solution

2. Pulverised Biomass to Boiler – Bioflame

For facilities transitioning from coal or oil to biomass, our Bioflame® solution offers a cost-effective and environmentally compliant pathway. This system enables co-combustion of pulverised biomass in existing boilers, reducing carbon intensity without major infrastructure changes.

Solution Highlights:

  • Biomass and RDF/SRF receiving systems
  • Storage and dosing units
  • Boiler feeding with dust control and safety systems
  • Designed to meet strict environmental regulations

Bioflame is already proven in major European power plants and is ideal for utilities seeking to align with global decarbonization trends.

3. End-to-End Automation for Continuous Production

Most operational bottlenecks and instabilities in biomass production are driven by human factors during feedstock handling. Implementing automated control systems not only stabilizes the output of solid biofuels but significantly enhances occupational safety by keeping personnel away from high-risk processing zones and heavy machinery. The solutions including:

  • Control room solutions with modern web-based interface
  • Distributed Control Systems
  • Asset Performance Management
  • Real-time monitoring and advanced analytics provide actionable insights

4. Mechanical Processing of Biomass Feedstock

In the biomass fuel preparation process, chipping and shredding are crucial mechanical pre-treatment steps to reduce material size, homogenize fuel composition, and optimize handling, storage, feeding, and combustion. Materials such as waste wood, plantation timber, branches, tree stumps, forestry residues, and woody biomass typically undergo multiple shredding and grinding stages to meet the specific size requirements of boilers, gasification systems, or other biomass energy conversion technologies.

We provide comprehensive solutions for chipping, primary shredding, and fine grinding with a diverse range of equipment, fulfilling all requirements from raw feedstock processing to high-quality biomass fuel production. Our offerings include:

  • Electric-driven single-shaft shredders and chippers: Ideal for applications demanding high operational efficiency, optimized energy consumption, and consistent output size.

  • On tracks, stationary, and semi-trailer chippers/shredders: Designed to meet the needs of on-site material harvesting and processing, as well as integration into centralized processing plants.

  • High-capacity shredding systems (up to 100 tph): Engineered for large-scale industrial applications and complex feedstock streams.

  • Fine grinders integrated with impurity separation and screening technologies: Enabling precise output size control to produce highly uniform products down to 30 mm, meeting the stringent requirements of biomass power plants and systems utilizing high-quality solid biofuels.
